FORGED IN THE SUN
A downloadable game
Forged in the Sun is a science-fiction tabletop role playing game about surviving or thriving in a volatile galaxy.
The game uses the Forged in the Dark system and takes inspiration from Star Wars, Serenity, Dune, Alien and many other incredible science-fiction and action movies. Using your honed skills or natural abilities you will band together with other players to fight for your place among the stars. The galaxy will not give you anything.
You must take it.
You have seven playbooks available to you:
- Assassin: A silent killer who strikes from the shadows.
- Awakened: A survivor who wields hidden power.
- Hotshot: A daring pilot who lives for the thrill.
- Influencer: A manipulator who turns connection into control.
- Tracer: A precision hunter who never loses a trail.
- Warrior: An unyielding enforcer who crushes opposition.
- Wildcard: A daring gambler who turns luck into leverage.
Using each playbook's abilities (and a bit of luck) you will navigate shifting allegiances and battle powerful empires to forge your own criminal Syndicate.
Forged in the Sun is designed to be compatible with the Blades in the Dark: Deep Cut expansion rules including Threat Rolls and harm. It also provides additional new rules and mechanics such as:
- Rules for transportation (ships, vehicles and mounts)
- Signature abilities unique to each playbook
- A special resource called Drive that can be used to boost your rolls.
An online character sheet can be found at this link.

This is an ashcan/playtest. There will be many changes to this game and I have additional material planned including additional separate supplements.
Forged in the Sun is still a work in progress. Your feedback is invaluable.

can you upload the song here for us to download it?
Yeah, we can definitely add it in there. Should we make it an mp3? WAV? Not sure if you have a preference.
Could also release it on Bandcamp to give the option to download there, too.
Bandcamp would be awesome, especially if you end up creating new music in the future (if i follow on Bandcamp i'll get notified).
as for here, i always prefer a 320kbps mp3, but that's just me :)
Here you go!

Well done! Love the graphic art and music too!
Thank you very much!
Looks gorgeous, and I like the idea of a FitD space game that's incorporating everything we've learned since the first release of BitD. Would love to get a print by demand version if you get to that stage! The Core Playsets are a great idea - you could have a military one (Space: Above and Beyond/BSG), an exploration one (Star Trek-ish), a space horror one (Alien/Mothership/etc) - having rules for campaign/setting _types_ rather than specific settings is a great way to make things flexible
Thanks!
I'll definitely set up a print on demand and also have some print-friendly options available once I get closer to a finished version.
And you read my mind with the additional playsets. That's exactly what I want to do. I have ideas for playsets based on rebellions, being a freelancer (smuggling/skip tracing), solving mysteries, monster of the week-style play similar to Bump in the Dark. The space horror one is also one I want to do as I love Alien. I just have to separate it out from the Alien RPG and Mothership stuff like you mentioned. I hadn't thought of Star Trek-related exploration but I love that idea. I had an idea for a science/tech supplement with playbooks for doctors or scientists and having an exploration playset would fit really well into that idea.
Appreciate the feedback!
Thoughts about a survival/political playset inspired by the likes of Dune?
Yeah! That's another one I really want to do. I only recently got into Dune but I think it would work well. My initial thought would be to have a Series Playset called "The Resource" and have it be about trying to gain control of a precious and rare resource. VERY Dune inspired. I'd have to figure out the playbooks for that.
Separately, I was thinking of making a playbook that is essentially a clone or engineered creature called an "Echo" with it being a combo of Bene Gesserit and Tleilaxu. It would have abilities for recalling past memories and stuff like that. It's very early concept, though, but I thought that might be a good way to include some of those themes.
Keep the good work.
Thanks!!
